Other:Constructed Religions Discussions

Hi Friso, I had to let you now that the problem I was experiencing earlier in saving my edits has been solved [???] I am so happy about for now I can put in articles. I thank all [you, CKB] who had a part in this blessing besides God.

By the way, I decided to go ahead a put in the article I did on "Palm Sunday" but gave it a different title which is actually true to its nature. The title is "Palm Sunday" according to John because all of the information i used is actually based the Gospel of John with other biblical references.

It is a short article and will need to cite others as references.

In His loving grace, Carol 16:31, January 15, 2010 (UT

I already thought that this one was yours ive just added it to the Palm Sunday disambig page--Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 16:39, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

RE: miranism constructed religion?

Hey Friso,

Sorry for the late reply! I had been busy these past few days, but I fully agree that Mirianism should not be classified as a "new religion" but a Christian "school of thought" or philosophy. It is more of a result of an evolving religion that has too many sects to begin with. Mirianism tries to get back not just to the basics of Christ's teaching, but also its contextual roots. It is open to questions regarding religions, science, and even sexual orientation; areas in which many Christian denominations have been hostile.

Thank you for creating the template in place of the "Constructed religion" one. However, I think there are some spelling and grammar errors in the title: "This is a personal opinion or an personal aproach on an existent religion" should be "This article is about a personal opinion or approach on an existing religion."

But other than that, thanks again for bring up the correct classification of Mirianism. -Ano-User 08:42, January 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for reminding me I have corrrected my mistake. I guess I was really tired yesterday.--Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 11:07, January 23, 2010 (UTC)
No problem, I will be happy to correct any misspellings or grammar errors if they so happen to appear on any other articles or I'll let administrators know if they should edit templates. Talk to you later! :) -Ano-User 02:41, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Church of Arementine the Great

I think I need to point out that the Church of Armentine the Great does not exist. The pages about it are about it are, therefore, affected by our new policy on Constructed Religions. --Simon Peter Hughes 05:07, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

The creator ofthis article is already moving this article to the "new" wiki when he moved everything I will delete it here.--Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 10:09, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Class Wikitable

I fixed the tables in the article 'outline of the bible' but i notice that the navbox at the bottom isnt right either. I'm guessing that like the other tables its because there is no class 'wikitable' defined in the site wide css. See Adding the class to the css page would be quite trivial. You can just copy it from (Section starting with 'Table formatting'). Granpa 19:48, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

Done you were right. I have copied the common.css to ours. Ive just checked your articles and it seems to be fixed now although i thought i saw still an error in one table. But I noticed you are working on the article.

Re:Bot Account

That seems fine with me.

I have not been able to contribute as much as I would have liked in the past few days. I am on holiday for Chinese New Year, staying in southern Taiwan, and, for some reason, it is painfully slow to edit Wikia on the hotel's computer.

Also, I accidentally lost my moderator and administrator status this week, I lost the ability to delete, move and rollback. I think this probably accidentally happened following the Constructed Religions, Rev Bem business. I contacted Wikia staff yesterday and they have now been restored.--Simon Peter Hughes 02:36, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Well atleast it is fixed.----Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 17:25, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Personal philosophies

I think we need to say, "You are welcome to create articles in which you express your own personal beliefs and religious philosophies, however we ask that these articles be serious and honest. Do not create such pages merely in order to cause offense to followers of other religions. Do not make false claims about your philosophy, do not claim that it has hundreds or thousands of years of tradition or millions of followers around the world if you can not verify those claims." When people make those claims, what they have written crosses the line from being a personal philosophy to being a mock religion.--Simon Peter Hughes 09:45, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

I have edited the section on opinions, adding the words I wrote above.

I have searched for "l'vsh" and "l'vish" on Google, Yahoo and Bing and obtained no results. I have to conclude that it doesn't exist. So, that's exactly what I was talking about, a good opinion piece but false claims, suggesting a non-existant long history. I have edited the article to remove those suggestions.--Simon Peter Hughes 06:13, February 8, 2010 (UTC)

I'm having a little difficulty with Template:Netbible-d. Netbible is the best online resource i've been able to find but the template only works with single words or hyphenated words. With phrases (which is much of the time) it produces a mess. Its used alot in Template:Division of the land (just look for redlinks). Since it doesnt work right i've placed the original content between noinclude tags and just used a single {{{1}}} instead. I'm hoping you know some trick that will get it to work. Granpa 06:43, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

I got it working. Granpa 01:08, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

if its possible to import an entire category and its possible to get changes to articles linked to by a given article ( then it ought to be possible to import all articles that a given article links to. Granpa 01:12, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

uploading an image

the article Tabal needs image Wikipedia:File:NeoHittiteStates.gif to be understandable. I'm not comfortable doing it myself. theres a template on the page saying something about 'some rights reserved'. Granpa 07:36, February 23, 2010 (UTC)

What makes an article a commercial

I deleted the article because it lacked neutrality, the point of it was to say, "Come and join us!" (which goes against the principle of this web site not trying to convert anybody). It was only posted here in an attempt to get people to go to their church, although I don't suppose they'd make any money out of it.

Articles about individual places of worship and their attached communities are fine, I supose, but they should be written from a more neutral, third party perspective. They shouldn't say, "Come and visit us. We'd be happy to see you"Simon Peter Hughes 12:25, February 24, 2010 (UTC).

Yes, I completely agree. If it were re-written in a more neutral style it would be quite acceptable.Simon Peter Hughes 12:48, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Let me put it this way. If I could write a Wikipedia article about the school where I teach, I would have to write:

Edinburgh Language School is a small private language school located in Longtan, northern Taiwan. There are currently fifty registered students...

I couldn't write:

We are a small but friendly school in beautiful Longtan. We've got fifty super students and we've got room for plenty more...

That would be a commercial.

I think we should follow that lead. All articles about individual places of worship and their associated communities, organizations, charities and, above all, for-profit businesses, should be impersonal (avoid using "we", "us" and "our") and presented from a neutral point of view

I have done some further editing on the Centerpoint church article. I have put all the "we" and "us" parts into a quotation in italics. I think that's more suitable

I have a little(Okay, big, to me anyway) problem with the constructed religions being moved. I haven't checked religion wiki for a long time. Then, I come back, and find out that the article I created, Julieism, has been moved, no trace of it. I check the new wikia created for it- and the article(on the new wiki for created religions) is utterly and totally empty(some hiccups in the transferring process?). I had no indication that this would happen, so I did not save it. Now the page that I(and many others) have spent many hours creating has totally disappeared. Obviously, I was disappointed, shocked, and upset.

Is there any backup file or something I can access to at least get back the entirety what I typed into that article? I certainly know not to put it up here again, but I feel heartbroken when I see my long page of work gone, just like that.

The page was obviously vandalized on Open Sourcing Religion Wiki, I have now restored it.Simon Peter Hughes 17:19, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

There was a debat going on about the constructed religions. This has done in democratic way with Wikia's support. We have moved every constructed religion in a proper way to the open sourcing religion. As simon said the article was vandalized but he has restored it. --Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 08:44, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Wikianswers Religion

A new Wikianswers Religion site has just opened. More than 2000 questions related to religion and philosophy have been moved from Wikia's Central Answers site. If you have enabled the Wikianswers widget, you'll now see questions from this new site instead of from the Central Answers site. If you would like to customize the widget, you can edit the text at MediaWiki:Answers widget user note. You'll find more help with the widget at Help:Wikianswers widget. If you'd like to be involved and join the admin team at Wikianswers Religion, please let me know on my talk page there. Angela (help forum | blog) 07:40, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

Impersonation account

I am an adminstrator of the website Conservapedia under the user name "Karajou", and the contributions listed in the above link came directly from my website, without my knowledge or permission, and posted here without your permission. I was first told of this problem yesterday by another Conservapedia adminstrator who also had his account impersonated solely for the posting of Conservapedia content; these people are:

I am asking you to remove the postings made by these impersonators and deleting their accounts. You can reach me at if you have any questions.

Nobody is impersonating you. When those articles were imported from Conservapedia their history was imported too. Granpa 04:50, June 21, 2010 (UTC)
sorry for my late absense. I have been really busy in real life and was not able to use the internet. Concerning the articles those are forked from conservapedia under the conservapedia license at that time. all those articles are also labeled with a license template for giving credit to encyclopedia. . By importing these data the original authors are automatically added too. Infortunatly i am not the owner of wikia and can't remove this. What i could do is adding a concervapedia license template to these "impersonators"profiles with the message that this user is based on conservapedia.

example license template:

Shalom Friso, Have you contacted "Geo.plrd" and "Karajou" by e-mail? I'm not sure that they're still interested. They wrote about this in May and haven't made any fuss about it since then. Of course, "Karajou" is in no position to demand that the articles be deleted because he is not the copyright holder.

I'd also like to say that I'm glad to see you back, so that we can work togethet to keep making this site better.Simon Peter Hughes 07:52, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

change template:wikipedia3

Would it be alright if i changed template:wikipedia3 from

"A part of this article is forked from Wikipedia. The original article was at Wikipedia3. The list of authors can be seen in the page history. As with the Religion-wiki, the text of Wikipedia is available under the GNU Free Documentation License"

"Some or all of this article is forked from Wikipedia. The original article was at Wikipedia3. The list of authors can be seen in the page history. As with the Religion-wiki, the text of Wikipedia is available under the GNU Free Documentation License"?

The template is in use by a great many pages so any change to this template will result in a lot of pages having to be re-compiled or whatever its called. Granpa 03:20, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Problem Creating a New Article

Hi Friso,

I am experiencing problems with the "Create a New Article" feature--possibly because of the browser I am currently using. I wanted to add the article, "The Virgin Mary". Could you offer any advice on this problem? I realize that I may need a larger hard drive since my present one can't support the browsers that your site recommends.

new version of Template:Main

I have created a new version of Template:Main at Template:Main3. See the documentation at Template:Main3/doc for a short explanation. Also see for a discussion that i had a while back at wikipedia about this idea. I've tested the template at Template:Creation_by_Elohim. I didnt put the category between includeonly tags as is suggested here but it seems to work just fine anyway. Eventually, unless you have any objections, I would like to replace Template:Main entirely. Granpa 04:00, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

I've created a template identical to Template:main3 at wikipedia called Main5 and started a discussion about it at Village_pump_(proposals)#New_version_of_Template:Main. Granpa 02:59, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

I've also reverted Template:Documentation to the last version before I imported from Wikipedia. That version is much better. Doing so wasnt difficult but it was non-trivial because I can only rollback the very last revision. All other revisions require me to go through the edit procedure. If I can do that then I dont see why it doesnt offer me the option of just 'rolling it back'. Granpa 05:44, July 29, 2010 (UTC)

Wow, you really imported a lot of articles in January. the database is 10 times as big as it was before.

You want me to redirect them to wikipedia?
--Friso Yoyon Schaap(Talk) • (Religion Wiki Administrator) 14:52, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Its either that or remove them one by one by hand.
Most of the articles are imported from wikipedia and the vast majority of the redlinks are therefore not related to religion.
--Granpa 20:26, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Or I guess you could modify the script so that it just replaces the redlink with normal text.
That would work too.

Inter wiki assistance.

First off, you and the rest of the admins have done a great job here, when i found this wiki i assumed there would be trouble being neutral. Im glad to see i was wrong, and that the articles have been very well done (the article for Seventh Day Adventism seems to have had some of its images deleted though).

But to my point, i am one of the admins at Wikianswers, and we need help. We have become way understaffed, and im one of the few who even follow a religion, but i have very little knowledge on the matter as a whole. I have been looking for wiki's who can help us, and i was wondering if there is anyway to get help for ours.

We normally ask the head admin (im at the understanding it is you) what we can do to help, the least we ask is permission to post a blog or forum asking for help with a link, but we will take whatever help we can get.

Here is the category we are hoping you can help us with.

Thank you for your time, good luck and happy editing.-Cheatcodechamp (talk) 00:20, July 19, 2013 (UTC)
