Wade[]
- Moses Wade (1792-1869) - medicine man, marched in the Mormon Battalion, Co C, alongside his oldest son, while his wife died in Winters Quarters.
Walker[]
- William Walker (1820-1908) - Veteran of Mormon Battalion and mountain guide - William H. Walker Freight Train (1857) - Company Captain
- Lorin Walker (1822-1907) - Married oldest daughter of Patriarch Hyrum Smith just four days before the martyrdom of her father and uncle.
White[]
- Barnard White (1839-1912) - English immigrant - He and his family were part of the 1856 Hunt Wagon Company that followed behind the ill-fated Martin Handcart Company. They witnessed much of the suffering of that group.
- Dantzel White (Nelson) (1926-2005) - 1st wife of LDS Apostle and Cardiac Surgeon Russell M Nelson, 10 children.
Whitlock[]
- Andrew Whitlock (1805-1865) - Veteran of Zion's Camp, crossed plains to Utah, battles with Indians and renowned maker of fine beaver hats.
Whitmer[]
The Peter Whitmer Family hosted the prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. for the final period of the Book of Mormon Translation. It was the site of the founding of the church on 06 April 1830, as well as several early revelations of the church. 7 of the 11 witnesses to the Book of Mormon were members of the Whitmer Family.

- John Whitmer (1802-1878)- One of Eight Witnesses of the Book of Mormon. Early Historian of the Church, called by revelation (D&C 47) in 1831. Namesake for the JWHA - Studies in early LDS Church History.
Whitney[]
- Newell K Whitney (1795-1850) - Early LDS Church leader, LDS Bishop in Kirtland, Far West and Nauvoo and 2nd Presiding Bishop of the Church. Most famous as proprietor of the N.K. Whitney Store in Kirtland, site of many early revelations given to Joseph Smith.
- Orson F Whitney (1855-1931) LDS Apostle and Church historian.
- Sarah Whitney (1825-1873) - polygamous wife of prophet Joseph Smith and then of apostle Heber C Kimball.
Wight[]
- Lyman Wight (1796-1858) Appointed military leader of the Zion's Camp expedition for his knowledge of military affairs and drills. Later LDS apostle and founder of "Wightites" breakaway Mormon sect after Joseph's death.
Williams[]
- Sgt Thomas Williams (1827-1860) - Veteran of Mormon Battalion - marched with his wife and 2 kids. Killed by Indians near Baker, CA on a wagon freight trip.
Willis[]
- 2nd Lt William Willis (1811-1872) - officer in the Mormon Battalion who led the sick detachment to Pueblo CO and then on to Salt Lake Valley, arriving there just five days behind Brigham Young's group.
Woodruff[]
- Abraham O Woodruff (1872-1904) - LDS Apostle, 1893-96 mission to Germany, and afterwards he helped establish settlements, stakes, and the church throughout the Utah area.
- Lucy Woodruff (1869-1937) - wife of LDS Church President George Albert Smith.
- Phoebe Woodruff - wife of LDS Church President Lorenzo Snow.
- Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898) - famous pioneer missionary, apostle and 4th President of the LDS Church.
