- Richard T Sanders (1828-1858) - Mormon Battalion soldier stayed in California to prospect for gold, rumored to be killed by indians.

- Henry Sanderson (1829-1896) - kept of detail journal of the Mormon Battalion.

Sherman[]
- Lyman Royal Sherman (1804-1839) - Subject of D&C 108 given in 1835. Died during mob persecution in Far West, Missouri, unawares that he had been called to the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.

- Lt Andrew Jackson Smith (1815-1897) - Temporary commander of the Mormon Battalion in 1846. Later a Major General of Union Troops in the Civil War, credited with winning the Battle of Tupelo in 1864.

- George A. Smith (1817-1876) - Cousin to prophet Joseph, counselor to Brigham Young, LDS Apostle.
- George Albert Smith (1870-1951) - LDS Apostle and 8th President of the LDS Church
- Hyrum Smith (1800-1844) - older brother of Prophet Joseph. Served church in many capacities.
- John Henry Smith (1848-1911) - Only LDS Apostle to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve alongside his son, who would later become a President of the church.
- Joseph Smith, Sr (1771-1840) - father of the prophet, one of Eight Witnesses to the Book of Mormon, and 1st patriarch of the LDS Church.
- Joseph Smith, Jr (1805-1844) - Prophet, founder and 1st president of the LDS Church.
- Joseph Smith III (1832-1914) - oldest son of the prophet, founder of the RLDS Church.

Snow[]
- Eliza R Snow (1804-1887) - one of the most celebrated Mormon women of the nineteenth century. A renowned poet, she chronicled history, celebrated nature and relationships, and expounded scripture and doctrine. Snow was the second general president of the LDS Relief Society.

- Willard T Snow (1811-1853) - Veteran of Zions Camp, died from malaria contracted after a mob attack in Denmark while serving as president of the LDS Scandinavian Mission. First LDS missionary to die overseas.

- Gov George Stoneman (1822-1894) - Assistant Quartermaster of the Mormon Battalion, later a Civil War General and then the 15th Governor of California.
