Joan Antidea Thouret (in French Jeanne Antide) was a nun and a saint. She founded the Sisters of Charity congregation.
Biography[]
Joan Antidea was born in 1765. When she was 22 she joined the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in Paris but during the French Revolution she was in exile in Switzerland and Germany.
In 1797 she returned to France where she founded a school for poor girls. In 1799 she founded a new congregation: the Sisters of Charity supported by Letizia Ramolino, Napoleon's mother.
In 1819 her institute was approved by Pope Pius VII who gave canonic privileges to her convents.
She died at Regina Coeli monasterium, Naples, in 1828. ru:Туре, Иоанна Антида
