A congregation is an assembly of people for a given purpose, a corporate body whose members gather for worship, or the members of such a body.
Examples of congregations include:
- Those gathered for worship on a particular occasion, or those who may habitually attend a place of worship such as Mosque (Masjid), churches, synagogues, or temples. Congregations may be recognized or have their formal or informal organizational name include the name of the place of worship they attend or administer.
- Congregation (Roman Curia) - an administrative body of the Roman Catholic Church
- Congregation (Catholic) - a religious institute in which only simple vows, not solemn vows, are taken
- Qahal (an Israelite organisational structure, often translated as congregation)
