  • Stichometry of St. Nicephorus, Patriarch of Constantinople, lists the Book of Revelation and the Apocalypse of Peter among the "disputed" books.
  • 869-870; 879880 Fourth Council of Constantinople deposes Patriarch Photios of Constantinople (who was later made a saint by the Orthodox Church) because his predecessor, Ignatios of Constantinople, was still alive. Photios was reinstated as Patriarch and reconciled with the Papacy upon Ignatios' death.
